QUEENSLANDER

BY TREMAYNE GORDON

A One Act Play Festival

Photographer: Kipp Lee

She'll search our house sometimes. To try and find what she's lost. She'll realise she lost it in the floods. She'll start to remember.

After a flood, 5 young people move into the same sharehouse, and with their myriad of cardboard boxes comes a whole lot of baggage. Tensions rise as these 5 people try to make a home, but what happens when the home they've been trying to build might get washed away entirely? Queenslander is a short play that investigates human connection in the face of adversity.

In 2010 and 2011, a devastating flood destroyed the homes and lives of hundreds of Queenslanders. Many stood by helpless as their possessions, their pets, even their family members were pulled into the unforgiving waters, unable to save them. Queenslander explores how connected we all become in times of trouble.
