The biggest question to ask yourself before sending through pictures is, "Is this picture high enough quality that I would post it on my own Instagram?" If the answer is no, take some more.

We want the photos on our social media to be engaging, and to show or audience that we love theatre, and love reviewing. Make sure you're dressed appropriately for the theatre (if it's an opening night there will generally be a smarter dress code) and take pictures of the following:

  • You with either a poster or a program. Something that shows us which show you're at, and if possible, the theatre it's on at

  • A photo of the stage

  • A photo of you and your tickets

  • Anything else that looks branded - if its a bigger event they might have a photo wall, so jump in front of that and start snapping!

  • If the cast are available for photos, take some with them in it too!

Please send a minimum of 4 photos per show by the end of the evening - these may not all be used but it's good for us to have some variety to choose from. If you haven't taken someone with you to the theatre, and you can't find anyone to take your picture for you, selfies are ok too!

Just before you send your photos through, take a look at this checklist:

  • Are the photos clear or blurry? (If blurry, take some more)

  • Please make sure that the ticket or program text is facing the right direction - ie. that we can read the name of the show from left to right.

  • Do the photos have the full poster? (e.g. make sure you're not standing in front of the title of the show - it happens a lot!)

  • Do I look like I'm having a good time?

  • Have I taken photos at unusual angles or with funny faces? If so, that is okay but please make sure to send at least 1 high quality image without funny facial expressions or camera angles. This includes photos taken under the nose (a recent trend that is NOT good on Instagram)

  • Are the photos well lit?

  • Have I got at least 4?

Please do not put any filters on your photos prior to sending them through.

Once that's all done, you're ready to send through!
